After Tooth Extraction – Don’ts

In the previous post, we took a look at simple things you should after a tooth extraction. This time, let us look at things that you should NOT do.
1. Don’t smoke for at least 48 hours. That’s right – if you are a smoker, you ought to put away the habit if only temporarily. Cigarettes contain chemicals that can affect the clotting of the blood.
2. Don’t spit for at least a day. You may be tempted to spit, especially if you taste blood – which you probably would. However, the action of spitting may cause the wound to bleed yet again.
3. Avoid certain kinds of food/drink. Anything hot, spicy, hard – stay away from these for a couple of days. You also ought to avoid sodas or any caffeinated drinks. Not only might you hurt yourself, but you also open yourself to the risk of more bleeding.
This list may seem difficult, but it is only a temporary thing.
